Neuroma

What is Neuroma?

Neuroma is swelling of nerve or tissue around the nerve. Located in the ball of the foot, which usually occurs between the toes. 

Causes:

  • Activities like running, skiing, ballet, and sports that amplify pressure repeatedly on the ball of the foot.

  • Shoes being too tight

  • High Heels

  • Flat Feet

  • High Arches

  • Bunions

  • Hammer Toes​

Symptoms:

 

  • Swelling

  • Diffculty walking from pain

  • Burning Pain in the ball of the foot

  • Numbness in the toes

Treatments:

  • Placement of metatarsal pads by a specialist and given prescription,

  • Cortisone injections in the location of the pain.

  • Surgical removal of the Neuroma.
